Bike Paths and Animals:

Over the years I’ve seen a variety of animals that one might expect to see while out in a rural setting riding. Although there have been a few encounters with animals that really got my attention. An "emu' really shocked me one day, just trotting along headed east on the path I was going west on. Turns out this big ostrich looking bird was an escapee from a wild game farm.

Another strange encounter was of a full sized mountain lion. This sucker was a big cat in the 150 plus pound range that came shooting across about 20 yards in front of me chasing down a deer. This big cat leaped up and snatched that deer by the back of the neck. This sucker dragged the dear off into the weeds while I locked up the brakes and turned and headed back to the van to find the conservation police and report it. It was months before I got the courage to ride this same area again.

There, I broke the ice and posted here. I'm sure there are tons of other stories about animals we've all came upon while riding, I know I've got more. Let's hear some.
